MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Nursing preferred; one year of professional nursing experience preferred; must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull fifty pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of up to twenty-five pounds; must be able to lift individuals with developmental disabilities and non-ambulatory individuals; must hold valid Ohio Driver’s License-Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; must meet and maintain Board/Ohio School Plan insurability standards for driving

STARTING PAY:
$25.66 per hour to $30.70 per hour

*A higher rate of pay could be achieved with substantial related experience and/or education

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
Nurse Registration – State of Ohio Board of Nursing Education

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Acting on physician’s orders, administers prescribed medication (i.e., oral, rectal and injections); maintains medication accountability records, maintains medication equipment and supplies; performs skilled nursing procedures (i.e., applies and changes sterile dressings, catheterizes, provides nasogastric feedings)

Provides general nursing care to students; maintains first-aid supplies and provides first-aid treatment as necessary; screens for communicable and nuisance diseases; performs annual vision screenings on assigned students

Assists in student education of personal health related matters (i.e., grooming, hygiene, safety, nutrition)

Investigates staff incidents/accidents; inspects building and grounds in order to ensure property is free of health and safety hazards.

Requests, secures follows up on medical information related to assigned students

Participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary team working with other professional staff in assessing, developing, implementing, evaluating and modifying the Individual Educational Plan/Individual Habilitation Plan

Prepares and maintains written records and reports as required on, but not limited to, student medical history and information, program objectives and progress data for regular evaluations and for revision of the Individual Educational Plan/Individualized Family Service Plan

Provides consultation services with instructors, parents, guardians and/or significant others regarding health and safety related issues of assigned students

Participates in and/or provides staff training programs; reads professional literature and attends seminars, academic classes or workshops to enhance professional knowledge and skills in areas such as, but not limited to, nursing care, health, safety, behavior modification, systematic training, counseling, normalization, developmental disabilities, instruction and/or curriculum development

Provides instruction and training for pre-school age students in the areas of health, hygiene and safety

Serves as a resource person for staff in providing technical assistance and providing in-service training

Attends and participates in staff meetings to obtain and provide information

Performs other related duties as assigned

This position contributes to the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS)
