MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent; four years’ experience as auto/bus/truck mechanic preferred; must be able to lift, bend, push and pull up to 50 pounds; must hold valid Ohio Driver’ License-Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; must meet and maintain Board/Ohio School Plan insurability standards for driving; must provide own hand tools
STARTING SALARY:
Hourly Rate: $17.73 to $18.76
*Hourly Rate is subject to increase given sufficient experience in the field
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
Must hold a valid (or be eligible to maintain) Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; air conditioning certification preferred
*Training to acquire a CDL is offered to applicants who meet all other qualifications for the position and are selected through the interview process
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs major work under general supervision in accordance with standard trade practices; responsible for work procedures and methods involving the following systems: engine, transmission, body, electrical, cranking, charging, wheelchair lifts, exhaust, cooling, brake, chassis/steering/driveline, fuel system (gas-diesel-carbureted-injection-propane), welding (wire-tig), air-conditioning, and diagnostic (computer, analysis-electrical, failure, trouble shooting for air-conditioning and wheelchair lifts, drivability)
Performs service calls; performs preventative maintenance inspection; prepares work orders; trains other county employees in the proper use and maintenance of all county vehicles; handles parts distribution and intake
May assign, schedule and inspect all work during assigned hours
Performs other related duties as assigned
