Habilitation Specialist

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education or related field; one year experience in developmental disabilities field is preferred; must be able to lift, bend, push and pull up to 25 pounds

 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:  Adult Services Worker Certification – Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities; valid Ohio Driver’s License – Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; must hold valid American Red Cross or equivalent first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification and must complete eight hours of approved DODD training

STARTING PAY:

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Provides training as assigned for adults with developmental disabilities, e.g., vocational, behavioral, educational, physical and perceptual habilitation skills, personal care, social development and in movement from place to place; in accordance with Individual Habilitation Plans, implements established procedures to fulfill plan objectives and monitors enrollee progress relative to individual goals; coordinates operations with activities of other program staff

 

Participates in staffings to discuss and develop Individual Habilitation Plans; performs evaluations; attends reviews and staffings to obtain and provide information to make indicated adjustments, improve programs and/or discuss enrollee progress; plans and writes individual objectives for implementation in total habilitation plan; assumes overall program management responsibilities for assigned enrollees

 

Develops and implements job assessment programs including employee tours and agency contact

 

Provides referral contact and follow-up services

 

Maintains records and prepares program reports as required; maintains information update in area of habilitation skills, normalization and systematic training

 

Provides information and encouragement for parents and families of enrollees as needed; participates in total normalization and systematic training programs provided for enrollees; assists enrollees and families in obtaining services provided by community organizations

 

Participates in and/or provides staff training programs; reads professional literature and attends seminars, academic classes or workshops to enhance professional knowledge and skills in areas such as, but not limited to, vocational training, behavior modification, special education, systematic training, counseling, task analysis; provides transportation for employees

Compound Supervisor – Transportation

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have strong oral and written communication skills; strong computer skills especially MS Word, Excel and Outlook; Versatran, Zonar and RTA experience helpful; must be able to work effectively with a diverse group of employees and agency administrators with a strong customer service focus.  Knowledge and experience with school transportation systems preferred.  Must possess good problem solving skills and logistic skills.  A minimum of 5 years in management/supervision required.  Bachelor’s Degree preferred; experience with people with disabilities and transportation system. Must be able to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks and drug test.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises Drivers, Assistants, Dispatchers and Training/Safety departments.   Evaluates staff performance and maintains records of evaluations; reports variations from standard practice to supervisors; takes direct corrective action to change practices or recommends retraining programs; screens, interviews and recommends applicants for hire; recommends assignments, transfers, promotions, disciplinary actions, grievance resolutions and other personnel actions; evaluates employee performance. Identifies daily operating problems needing attention and resolves them or directs employees to appropriate parties for resolution; distributes route changes and special instructions to Drivers and Assistants.

Manages and directs all compound operations; planning, production and training; maintains sound fiscal management of transportation operations; develops and establishes program standards, goals and objectives. Works closely with collective bargaining unit and ensures consistent compliance with labor management agreement and FCBDD practices. Maintains and strives towards achieving the mission and goals of the FCBDD.  Establishes and maintains relationships with other departments within the agency and with other businesses and organizations in the community.  Collaborates with internal and external personnel, including public agencies, parents, transportation regulation agencies, vendors, etc., for the purpose of implementing and/or maintaining transportation services and programs.

Supervises the tracking of attendance data for Transportation Department; follows established office procedures and priorities coordinating, tracking and processing leave requests, staff rosters and schedules, work hours and other related materials for individuals within the team. Works closely with Transportation Operations Manager in tracking changes in hours in Kronos of direct reports. Assists with receiving and maintaining copies of applications for employment for Transportation personnel; upon management request, schedules interviews, performs reference checks and ensures all documents are present to process if recommended for hire by the management team.

In supporting the QA/Operations Manager, may investigates vehicle accidents and helps to ensure all essential facts are obtained and all Incident/MUI reports are completed.  Reviews Incident Reports for Trends and Patterns and provides required reports to the MUI Department. May assume driver, assistant, dispatch duties when necessary to ensure that routes are not cancelled. Assists in the recruitment of qualified drivers and assistants and may be involved is the interview process.  Oversees the purchase of equipment and parts at the compound.

Implements policies and procedures for production of documents, work flow, filing, ordering of supplies, records maintenance, and other support services

Performs a broad range of complex responsibilities involving confidential information, such as compiling reports, furnishing information, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, responding to routine correspondence, researching background material, and responds to visitors and telephone calls; may exercise considerable judgment and discretion in completing assignments
