DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises and instructs infant and toddler age children in order to provide basic skill development in the following areas: language and communication, self-help, fine and gross motor, social, emotional, cognitive and sensory. Provides home visits to meet the needs of children and families

Works cooperatively with a variety of professionals to include, community agencies, specialists, supervisors and families to support transdisciplinary teaming.

Prepares and maintains written records and reports as required on, but not limited to, student attendance, assessments, program objectives and progress data for regular evaluations. Collaborates with Help Me Grow (HMG) and Local School Districts to produce an IEP or IFSP for assigned student.

Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary team working with families and other professional staff in assessing, implementing, evaluating for assigned students.

Provides consultation services with parents, guardians, care givers, community agencies and/or significant others to ensure accomplishment of plan objectives and outcomes.

Performs student assessments, assesses developmental levels of students by formal and information methods in order to obtain evaluative data; observes and confers with parents and significant others in order to collect and share information relative to the assessment process and to develop the Transdisciplinary Report/Action Plan.

Participates in and/or provides staff training programs, reads professional literature and attends seminars, workshops or academic classes to enhance professional knowledge and skills.

Psychology Assistant – Intake Department

SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Psychology, and assigned to the Intake Dept., this position reviews collateral, interprets psychological and educational evaluations, and offers opinions about the existence of a developmental disability and/or details supporting substantial functional limitations (SFLs) relevant to county board eligibility.  Serves as a resource to agency staff, families, and individuals served or seeking county board eligibility. Ensures compliance with agency policies, and all relevant guidelines, codes, regulations, and laws. Makes certain that all county board eligibility determinations are made based on comprehensive collateral comprised of relevant and current evaluations.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Education, Social Work or related field with emphasis in assessment and testing preferred; experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities required.  Knowledge of and experience with county board of developmental disabilities eligibility processes preferred.   Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to produce timely reports.  Computer literate, including use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative.  Strong organizational skills required. Must be able to work effectively with a diverse group of staff, parents, and other agency administrators with a strong customer service focus.  Must be able to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks and drug test.  Must have a sound value base in respect of the rights of vulnerable people, particularly those who present with overlapping developmental disabilities and mental health challenges that may impact county board eligibility.

Review new &/or redetermination Intake cases for bona fide developmental disabilities conditions; Provide training to Intake staff and others regarding county board of developmental disabilities eligibility processes and importance of current, relevant collateral.

Assist in evaluating for substantial functional limitations (SFLs) of persons presenting to Intake; Serve as subject matter expert to Intake staff and others for issues related to psychological and educational test scores; Conduct OEDI/COEDI as requested by Intake Supervisor. Attend Intake appeal hearings when there are questions/concerns about psychological &/or educational documents/issues as they impact SFL outcome; Conduct psychological evaluations of children or adults as assigned and supervised by Director of Psychology.

Assist participants to explore educational, social, recreational resources and employment opportunities in the community utilizing agency vehicles and/or public/alternative transportation.  Facilitate and provide Discovery, training, support, inclusion and accommodations for participants in the community and at work.  Independently engage persons served in structured and unstructured community activities and volunteer opportunities through use of agency vehicles and/or public/alternative transportation.  Facilitate/write meaningful community-based outcomes that align with each participant’s person-centered plan.  Develop employment plans in collaboration with Employment Services.  Deliver services which adhere to CMS, DODD and CARF rules and standards.  Ensure compliance with federal, state and local rules and statues.  Maintain an environment free of health and safety hazards.

Under the supervision of a Service Coordination Assistant Director, provides supervision, training and support for behavioral support staff and supports service coordinators in their development and oversight of ISPs for persons requiring behavior support strategies. STARTING PAY:
$20.92 per hour to $25.09 per hour

*Upper end of the pay range is reserved for candidates who possess an advanced degree and have substantial experience in a similar role

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
Investigative Agent Certification – Ohio Department of DD (can be obtained upon hire)

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILIES:
Conducts investigative and administrative reviews of Major Unusual Incidents as defined in the DODD MUI Administrative Rule; interviews and takes statements from alleged victims, alleged perpetrators and possible witnesses; collects written reports and data from other agencies to be used in the aforementioned reviews; interfaces with law enforcement and Children Services Boards as described in the MUI rule

Writes and reviews initial reports; writes follow-ups, memorandums, Unusual Incident Reports (UIR’s) and Additional Information Reports (AIR’s) as are necessary to meet the requirements of the MUI Administrative Rule; enters initials, follow-ups, memorandums and AIR information into the database for electronic transfer to DODD

Provides consultation to Case Managers, Service Coordinators and other providers as to the appropriate follow-up action for Major Unusual Incidents and Unusual Incidents

Makes appropriate notifications and/or assures that others do so according to the MUI Administrative Rule

Assures that individual’s health and safety needs are met as soon as is possible after a situation is brought to their attention

Conducts in-service training on the interpretation of the MUI Rule for provider agencies

Assists in maintaining accurate records of MUI and UIR reports; assists with compilation of statistical analysis of MUI and UIR reports

Testifies at MUI related court proceedings

Performs other related duties as assigned

This position contributes to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS)
