Ryan Phillips, Director, joined the Flyers team in November 2008. Prior to his start with Franklin County Special Olympics he was the Midwest Regional Manager of Communication and Development for Rails-to-Trails Conservancy and volunteer coach for Flyers 3 basketball team with his wife Casei for seven years.
Ryan & Casei are both proud alumni of Heidelberg University where they were both collegiate athletes (football/soccer). Their children Baylie, Tucker and Lily can all be found volunteering for Special Olympics and competing in unified sports when not competing on their own.
Ryan also serves as the director for the aquatics program at West Central School and Franklin Co. Recreation administered by Hattie Larlham. Ryan volunteers as the Chair of Reynoldsburg Park & Recreation Commission and enjoys kayaking, fishing and cycling. Ryan is a recipient of the Columbus Business First Forty Under 40 Award and Special Olympics Ohio Coach of the Year.
